There are three sets of Miscellaneous fields which can be drop-downs in Cyber Recruiter.  If no options are listed in this section then no miscellaneous fields have been set up as drop-down options.  To make a miscellaneous field appear as a drop-down instead of a fill in the blank field, go to the appropriate Miscellaneous page in the Page Builder section and check the checkbox next to the field caption.  Adding a check-box will make the field caption appear in the corresponding section list so code values can be added.

Applicant Miscellaneous

This code table contains options that are appropriate to a User-Defined miscellaneous field based on the setup in the  Admin > Page
Builder > Applicant > Miscellaneous > Applicant Miscellaneous
tab. Create the field in one of the twenty (20) misc field options and check the checkbox next to the field name. That will create the code table here with same User-Defined name.

User View: The Miscellaneous codes are seen on the Miscellaneous page of the Applicant file.  Depending on which miscellaneous field is used (1 - 20) it will show in the appropriate field on this page.  These codes can also be leveraged in the Cyber Search tool and both the codes and in most cases the description are available for the Report Writer.

Applicant View: Fields on the Miscellaneous page can be shown/activated for the Applicant in the Self Service module. To activate a field for the Applicant to complete, go to Admin > Website > Career Portal > Self Service Tab.  Edit the Miscellaneous page and highlight the field to show on this page.  When the field is shown, if the field allows for a drop-down option, the values entered here will appear for selection.

Import Code Key: A1, A2, A3, etc.  A20
Each code table which will be imported will have a different import key.  The import key will direct the import tool as to which of the miscellaneous fields should get the codes and descriptions.
.csv file should contain Code & Description in that order.

Applicant/Requisition Miscellaneous

This code table contains options that are appropriate to a User-Defined miscellaneous field based on the setup in Admin > Page
Builder > Applicant > Miscellaneous > Applicant/Requisition Miscellaneous tab.
Create the field in one of the ten (10) misc field options and check the checkbox next to the field name. That will create the code table here with same User-Defined name.

User View: Because this set of fields is a cross-over between applicants and requisitions, the values can be seen in two locations.  The information is the same no matter which page is used to access the information.

  1. In the Applicant file > Activity Page.  The first tab contains all the requisitions for this applicant. Click on the pencil icon to edit the details of the requisition.  If a field is activated for usage, it will appear on the second tab.
  2. In the Requisition file > Applicant Page.  This page contains all the applicants for this requisition.  Click on the pencil icon to edit the details of the requisition.     If a field is activated for usage, it will appear on the second tab.

Also, both the codes and in most cases the description are available for the Report Writer.

Import Code Key: AR1, AR2, AR3, etc.  AR10
Each code table which will be imported will have a different import key.  The import key will direct the import tool as to which of the miscellaneous fields should get the codes and descriptions.
.csv file should contain Code & Description in that order.

Requisition Miscellaneous

This code table contains options that are appropriate to a User-Defined miscellaneous field based on the setup in Admin > Page
Builder > Requisition > Miscellaneous
. Create the field in one of the twenty (20) misc field options and check the checkbox next to the field name. That will create the code table here with same User-Defined name.

User View: The Miscellaneous codes are seen on the Miscellaneous tab of the Main page of the Requisition file.  Depending on which miscellaneous field is used (1 - 20) it will show in the appropriate field on this page and both the codes and in most cases the description are available for the Report Writer.

Import Code Key: R1, R2, R3, etc.  R20
Each code table which will be imported will have a different import key.  The import key will direct the import tool as to which of the miscellaneous fields should get the codes and descriptions.
.csv file should contain Code & Description in that order.

Creating Miscellaneous Codes

Important Considerations:  Cyber Recruiter codes cannot contain certain symbols such as commas, quotes, periods, apostrophes or ampersands and the user will get an error message when trying to enter or import codes containing them. There are also certain character combinations that must be avoided because Cyber Recruiter is programmed to strip them (even if they are in the middle of a code or description) as they can be used by others to reference potentially dangerous procedures or scripts that could cause harm to your Cyber Recruiter system. These combinations include: SP_ or sp_ and XP_ or xp_. Also a double dash will be converted to a single dash. Additionally, because these codes can be used to create the requisition code, do not use spaces or colons in the code. There are a few other combinations not listed here that could be stripped, but it is extremely unlikely that they would be used in codes or descriptions.

After clicking "Add new record." enter in the necessary information to create a new code.

Field Purpose
Code Unique Identifier for the drop-down option. This code is written in the raw data and is referenced to determine the description to show on the screen. If the code is removed from the Admin > Codes section, this value will still be in the Applicant or Requisition file for reporting purposes unless the file is edited and saved after the code was deleted.
When importing data for Applicants or Requisitions use this value and NOT descriptions for the import spreadsheets.
Description This is what is displayed on the screens and on the website for searching.

Inactivating Miscellaneous Codes

Miscellaneous codes can be inactivated. When the code is inactivated it will no longer be an option to select when updating the system. Inactive codes in search lists and reports inside Cyber Recruiter will be segmented so all active codes appear first and then inactive codes appear under a header ---Inactive---

To inactivate a code, edit the code and checkmark the option for 'Inactive'.
